What's inside the Chocolate Subscription Box?

Our regular Chocolate Subscription Box is available in 2 sizes! Below is a list of the treats included in each package:

FUN SIZE - Net weight: 450 to 470g
‣ 4 dessert cups (2 packs of 30g each)
‣ 1 large chocolate bar (90g)
‣ 1 small solid chocolate bar (40g)

When available, special editions of our Chocolate Subscription Box may be offered in different sizes. For instance, our 2022 Black Friday Edition was available exclusively in FUN SIZE.

Do your products contain animal-derived ingredients, gluten, nuts, or peanuts?

Nope! Everything we make is 100% plant based and free from dairy, eggs, gelatin, honey, gluten, nuts, and peanuts.

We take food allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously in our DineSafe facility and craft our products in a dedicated dairy-free, gluten-free, peanut and tree nut-free kitchen. However, some other allergens may be present in all or some of our products, such as the ones below:

‣ Coconut - We use several coconut ingredients as replacements for dairy products and, as a result, even our products that do not include coconut as an ingredient will most likely have trace amounts of coconut.

‣ Soy - Some of the products we use contain soy lecithin. If you have a soy allergy, please indicate so in the comment section at checkout, and we will use only soy-free products as well as do our best to minimize the risk of cross contamination by sanitizing all surfaces, equipment, and utensils prior to working on your order.

Whenever one of our products contains a common allergen, this allergen is expressly indicated on the product page and on the package.

May I choose the flavours I want to receive each month?

Yes! At the beginning of each month you will receive an email with a link to a page like this one, where you will see the flavour options for that specific month.

As a general rule, you'll have until the 10th to indicate your preferences. If you're feeling adventurous and would like your Chocolate Subscription Box to be a surprise, simply do not submit your preferences, and we'll pick the flavours for you. :)

When you gift a special edition of our Chocolate Subscription Box (such as the 2022 Black Friday Edition) to someone else, the details described above will apply to gift recipient.

What's the shelf life of the Chocolate Subscription Box products?

The products in the Chocolate Subscription Box are individually packaged and labeled with details that include best before dates and how to store each item.

As a general rule, our dessert cups and chocolate bars are good for several weeks (or months, for some bars), and our current stock of Healthy Crunch Dark Chocolate Superfoods won't expire until October 2024.

How much would the same products cost without a subscription?

You save 15% of our regular retail price by subscribing to our regular Chocolate Subscription Box. Let's crunch some numbers to show you how you save by signing up for a minimum of 3 months, as compared to buying the same items once a month without a subscription:

‣ FUN SIZE
  • Value → $56.83 (i.e., $44.83 + $12 delivery fee)
  • You pay → $48.30 per month, delivery fee included

‣ FAMILY SIZE
  • Value → $108.85 (i.e., $96.85 + $12 delivery fee)
  • You pay → $92.52 per month, delivery fee included

You save even bigger with special editions of our Chocolate Subscription Box that we offer from time to time. For instance, those who signed up for the 2022 Black Friday Edition saved almost 30%!

 

IMPORTANT DATES

What does the timeline look like between placing my first order and getting my first box?

Please see the January-February dates below as an example for our regular Chocolate Subscription Box timeline:

‣ JAN 31 (last business day of the month) - Deadline to sign up if you'd like your first box delivered in February
‣ FEB 1-2 (first or second business day of the month) - Email with a link to indicate your flavour preferences (a page like this one) and option to skip this delivery
‣ FEB 10 - Deadline to submit your choices of flavour OR request to skip your delivery
‣ FEB 15-20 - Email with delivery date (typically on or around the fourth Wednesday of the month, let's use February 28 as our example)
‣ FEB 28 (fourth Wednesday of the month) - Expect your gourmet chocolates to be delivered, usually between 4 and 10pm

Everything is similar for special editions of our Chocolate Subscription Box (such as the Black Friday Edition we offered back in 2022), except for the deadline to sign up and the gap between signing up and getting your first email notification to choose the flavours. These differences are clearly stated on the product page whenever we launch a special edition of our Chocolate Subscription Box.

What's the deadline to sign up?

The deadline to subscribe to our regular Chocolate Subscription Box is the last business day of each month, as such:

‣ Subscribe by January 31 → First delivery in February
‣ Subscribe by February 29 → First  delivery in March
‣ Subscribe by March 29 → First delivery in April
‣ Subscribe by April 30 → First  delivery in May
‣ Subscribe by May 31 → First  delivery in June
‣ Subscribe by June 28 → First  delivery in July
‣ Subscribe by July 31 → First  delivery in August
‣ Subscribe by August 30 → First  delivery in September
‣ Subscribe by September 30 → First delivery in October
‣ Subscribe by October 31 → First  delivery in November
‣ Subscribe by November 30 → First delivery in December

From time to time, we may offer a special edition of our Chocolate Subscription Box - such as our 2022 Black Friday Edition, for which new subscribers needed to sign up by November 30 to receive their first delivery in January 2023. No special editions are being offered at this time.

When should I expect my deliveries?

We aim to deliver all Chocolate Subscription Boxes on or around the fourth Wednesday of each month, as shown in the examples below:

‣ JAN: January 24th (Tue), January 25th (Wed) OR January 26th (Thu)
‣ FEB: February 21st (Tue), February 22nd (Wed) OR February 23rd (Thu)
‣ MAR: March 21st (Tue), March 22nd (Wed) OR March 23rd (Thu)

However, inclement weather and other factors may play a role in our tentative schedule. In all cases, subscribers will receive an email notification some time between the 15th and the 20th of each month with a more concrete schedule.


PAYMENTS & SUBSCRIPTION DETAILS

Do I need to enter my credit card details each month?

‣ Regular Chocolate Subscription Box:
No, you only enter your payment details once, when you first sign up. This data is then stored securely by Shopify, and you will be automatically charged once a month until you decide to cancel your subscription. Fine Chocolates by B is powered by Shopify and, as such, is certified Level 1 PCI DSS compliant. The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a security standard for organizations that handle credit and debit card information, created to increase controls around payment data to reduce fraud.

‣ 2022 Black Friday Edition (and/or other special editions we may offer from time to time):
With special editions of our Chocolate Subscription Box there are no recurring payments at all. The entire 3-month period is charged upfront, and we will not store your credit card details. All special edition subscribers who would like to sign up for a regular subscription after the 3rd delivery will need enter their own credit card information (as a regular subscriber, described above).

Is there a monthly delivery fee in addition to the subscription price?

No, the $12 delivery fee is already embedded in the monthly total when you subscribe. During the warmer months, to ensure you receive your chocolates in perfect condition, we add a reusable cooler bag and an ice pack inside the usual delivery packaging at no extra cost.

Will my subscription auto-renew after the first 3 months?

‣ Regular Chocolate Subscription Box:
Yes, regular all subscriptions auto-renew after the initial period of 3 months. If you decide to cancel your subscription, you may do so any time after the 3rd delivery. Please contact us if you decide to cancel and cannot find this option under your account details.

‣ 2022 Black Friday Edition (and/or other special editions we may offer from time to time):
No, all special editions of our Chocolate Subscription Box automatically end after the 3rd delivery. Whether you buy it for yourself or as a gift to someone else, there's no commitment to keep a subscription active after the 3rd delivery. All special edition subscribers will have the option to sign up for a new subscription with their own credit card information - we do not store your credit card details, so there is no way someone else could use it to pay for a new subscription.

 

DELIVERY & LOGISTICS

May I change the delivery address?

Yes. To change the delivery address, just drop us a line by the 20th of the month. We'll always do our best to accommodate, but an extra fee may apply for addresses outside of our current delivery area (please see our answer to question 3 below for more details).

May I change the delivery date?

While you cannot change the pre-set delivery schedule, you will have the chance to skip your delivery each month.

At the beginning of the month, you will receive an email with a link to a page like this one. The same page that lists the flavour options for that specific month also includes the option to skip that delivery. All you need to do is click "Skip delivery" instead of picking the flavours/products you'd like to receive.

Upon getting your notification, we will remove your box from that month's delivery, and you will get a new box the month AFTER your subscription ends.

EXAMPLE - Say you sign up in June for a minimum of 3 months. You are expecting boxes to be delivered in July-August-September, but later on you decide to skip your August delivery. In this case, your payment will still go though as usual, but your remaining deliveries will be in September and October (instead of August and September).

What's your delivery area?

Our current delivery area is essentially the same as our GTA delivery area (find a list of postal codes and other details here) plus anywhere within a 15-km radius from Courtice (this includes towns such as Bowmanville, Newcastle, Orono and Hampton).

We may consider expanding our area depending on how many people express interest. If you live outside of the GTA and would like to be contacted when/if this expansion happens, please fill out this form to let us know.

Won't my chocolates melt if the package is left on my porch in the summer?

That's a reasonable concern, but we got that covered! To help protect your chocolates from the heat during warmer months, your Chocolate Subscription Box is delivered to you in a cooler bag with ice packs inside.
 
Both the cooler bag and ice packs are reusable and are yours to keep! :)

Do you ship products outside of the Greater Toronto Area?

We offer Canada-wide shipping for most of our products - feel free to browse them here. However, at the moment, shipping outside of the GTA  is not available for our Chocolate Subscription Box.

We may consider expanding our area depending on how many people express interest. If you live outside of the GTA and would like to be contacted when/if this expansion happens, please fill out this form to let us know.
